I am so blah! it's so not fair that I have this morning off but nobody wants to do anything :-(. I'll just sit home alone and brood listening to "The Wall".

What sucks is that euphoricshade told me that ryebread told spitefairy and terrapintwirls that they saw me backstabbing swisscelt. That is SO not true!

Oh yeah. that asshole pikakyosei gone and said that I got caught talking to enyo and dissing on blndrhed. If I get my hands on them they gonna be hurtin!

And also the other day at work sucked.

Hey and know what? krazykutie went around saying how I got caught talking crap about jadepeterson. Don't let me hear about that again or I'm going 2 whup asses!

Had my first chiropractor diagnosis/treatment today (boss paid). It definitely helped me with some slight left hand weakness. My left hand & wrist seems more awake. He also did some "carpel bone adjustment" that I'm somewhat skeptical about, but if my fingers stop tingling I think I'll continue having him look at my hands as a preventative measure.

The guy also does some alergy therapy mojo. <_< you can guess how much faith I put in dangling a sealed vial of brownish liquid on your upper lip and using pressure points to diagnose a persistent cold.

I do let a few people who I haven't actually met but are in my area slip into my IRL list but above I kept it to the people I've actually met.

Yay! Polishing off the (hopefully) last showstopper for our 3.0 release at work. We did some very funky stuff including pushing out updated client code using our system and all the windows XP sp2 data execution prevention that involves.

Haven't started WoW yet, and I haven't moved into the new house yet, and a hundred other things I want to do including read more journals. I had a mini-culling today and might dissappear from some other comms based on my mood.

I wonder if the_lance would find me an honest and patient Rush Limbaugh listener so that I can bounce what they say on Air America (particularly Randi Rhodes & Al Frankin) off of them. I think they have a few specious arguments, but not as many as a conservative mainstay might say. Maybe I'll just try posting to the liberal/conservatism comms, but I don't think I care to throw away that much of my time.

Video games get no respect... if someone was playing chess you wouldn't expect them to jump at the drop of a hat, and you certainly wouldn't knock over their table. Yet, it's perfectly acceptable for this person to ask instant attention of me or yank my Internet without warning.

My response to "La Sorcière Nouveaux" which has been passed around quite a bit. ;)

What I like the most about it is that it points out how modernization for the sake of modernization (i.e. not being a smelly hippy!) is silly, but at the same time the folk symbols of pagan myths are supposed to be eternal...

It's not that the athame is "old and busted" and the pen is "TEH N3W H@W7N355", but that they are equivalent symbols based on your perspective.

Reinventing these symbols for the sake of being new, yet still being "the same" and translating these things without thought just means we'd be adopting all the same fluffy hangups as the old symbols have.

SWG seems to have more combat depth (good or bad take your pick)

I'll probably have more fun with WoW (I'll start in January or February)

The shuttle is finally stable. We went to CompUSA to check the inventory before tomorrow's sale ($159 for 250GB SATA drive, $99 for 200GB U133... think we'll snap up a few).

Stereo reciever (AIWA AV-DV95) keeps flipping out and crackling at high volume (short circuited?). Time for a new one.

Politics: If you believe that attacking Iraq to end their "WMD related programs" was defending the USA, I won't mind if you vote for Bush. If you believe that oral contraception causes millions of "silent abortions" then I won't mind if you vote for Bush. If you believe that denying 1050 federal rights to 2-3% of our population is ok because we'd have to re-label or re-evaluate our language then go ahead and vote for Bush. If you believe that it's more couragious to have been in a National Guard "champaigne unit" than to have served a somewhat shortened tour in Vietnam then go ahead and vote for Bush... but please at least vote.

I'm still alive, but some heavy shit is happening.

Mother-in-law ran off with another guy. Now we're taking care of her 11-yo son.

We need a very very strong reality check for her. This is "her decision" but she needs to see all the ramifications of that decision. In WA what are the initial steps taken in turning over custody of a child from the mother to another family member?

Tax breaks during war? $30 car tabs? Recalls a plenty? Bread and circuses?

http://www.sierratimes.com/02/10/18/raythomas.htm

The great Scottish economist Alexander Fraser Tyler said basically the same thing in more detail not too long after the original thirteen colonies gained their independence when he wrote this of the Athenian Republic of 2,000 years ago: "A democracy cannot exist as a permanent form of government. It can only exist until the voters discover that they can vote themselves largess from the public treasury. From that moment on, the majority always votes for the candidates promising them the most benefits from the public treasury, with the result that a democracy always collapses over a loose fiscal policy, always followed by a dictatorship."

The average age of the world's greatest civilizations has been 200 years. The nations have progressed through this sequence:

From bondage to spiritual faith; from spiritual faith to great courage; from courage to liberty; from liberty to abundance; from abundance to selfishness; from selfishness to complacency; from complacency to apathy; from apathy to dependence; and from dependence back again into bondage. (Thanks to the Libertarians for this progression)

...

It's pretty obvious we're in the period of dependence, just having left the period of apathy. And from what Tyler said, there's only one step more, which brings us back to bondage. And, according to the averages, we're right on schedule, since the average age of any civilization is about 200 years.

Politics: He favors Kerry because of the guy's position on not using the ready reserve and stop-loss. "LAFFO"-ed at the mention of the Moore movie.

Cool: He's coming here sometime in the next few weeks.

We have a guest (long-term or short-term I dunno). He's 11.

This boy asks questions. His sister (my wife) does to, so I guess it's in his blood.

Boy: "What's pagan mean?" (having seen this handle, which I use in almost all my games now)
Me: "..." (ding!) "It's someone who doesn't go to church."
Boy: "Well I never go to church."

I had remembered a time when one of his friends was very excited about church for some reason. At least I know it didn't take with him.

Haven't played much lately... about an hour of city of heroes a day, maybe slightly more.

It's very easy to group up and mostly it doesn't require a large amount of time commitment.... good but I'm not sure if I want to keep playing after the 1st month.

This will be my wife's 2nd year in a row, but my first. We won't be staying for Defcon 12, but still it's going to be nice to get to go to a conference professionally, not just as some college-age kid.

HOLY CRAP these are some tight & twisty flaming hoops to jump through.

Filing an abuse complaint (even a fraudulent one) IS the kiss of death for a LJ user. I will be sending an email or letter to a local "on the cheap" attourney. However, if there is anyone with reasonable progress on a law degree I'd appreciate your advise (you can post a response here).

To any members of wiccans_unite that I have offended, I apologise.

I do not categorically consider you fluffy.

I once occupied the same mental space as someone you would call "fluffy". I have many Llewellyn books and I've even studied a "big blue book" signed by Raymond Buckland.

Much later in life I have found that my insistence on a few "facts" were incorrect and they in fact caused many potential friends to retract from myself AND it did damage to the communities that I represented.

I took pride in being a "pre-craft" Wiccan, but for quite a while I did not have the integrity to undergo that extra self-examination and free myself from these inaccuracies. That was hypocritical of me, and I would like to believe that I have matured in many ways since then.

To anyone who exhibits these "fluffy" characteristics I do have respect for you, and I will support you as far as your spirituality goes... but the instant you strike out against those who are older and wiser than you and I you have lost that respect.

There was just (well aboutt an hour ago because I pause realplayer while I work) a great call on Al Frankin's show. He had Paul Rieckhoff on and in this guy's opinion Moore took the quotes of the troops without properly framing them in the war mindset.

"He (Moore) made a mistake that's easy to make and was made so often in Vietnam where you blame the warriors instead of the war... It's really difficult to understand the mindset of those troops and he (Moore) missed that point. Overall I think the film (Fahrenheit 911) is a good thing because it's going to start conversation. People are going to talk about it and they're really going to debate, 'What is the cost of this war and is it worth it?'"

My opinion:

That is probably the best criticism of F911 I've read. It shows us that this cannot and should not ever be a new Vietnam, but everything that Bush is doing just keeps pushing it in that direction...

The responsability for torture, for war, for casualties, for innocent lives lost, must ALWAYS be a burden sholdered by the leaders. If it is not then they are not our leaders, and that means Bush is not our president, he is our CHIEVE EXECUTIVE OFFICER, complete with scapegoats, near-total indemnity, and a fucking GOLDEN PARACHUTE. The only thing we can hope for is to give him an early retirement.

Adding to the previous list the following possible... I'll probably make a ton of cuts:

808 state - Southern Cross -- slow ambient and kinda dark
BoC - Julie and Candy -- dark breakbeat
Orb - Outlands -- dark airy melody, classic techno
Plaid - Porn Coconut Co. -- dark IDM/breaks
SeeFeel - When Face Was Face (Isan) -- dark IDM/industrial from 10+3 remixes 1
LFO - Nurture (Surgeon) -- dark ambient IDM/breaks ... very easy mix (10+3 1)
BoC - An Eagle in Your Mind (Push Button Objects) -- funky bigbeat IDM (10+3 2)
Tricky Disco - Tricky Disco (Plone) -- nintendo! (10+3 2)
... gotta find that tetris remix from electronicscene.com :D
LFO - LFO (Leeds warehouse mix) -- classic dark techno (10+2 1)
Sweet Exorcist - Testone -- classic dark raveish stuff (10+2 1)
Nightmares on Wax - I'm For Real -- classic ravish house? (10+2 2)
Coco Steel and Lovebomb - Feel It -- classic deep house (10+2 2)
LFO vs FUSE - Loop -- classic techno (10+2 2)

pick a Metamatics...
Metamatics - Days Are Gone -- nice dark IDM/techstep
Metamatics - Shit Pod Is Hot -- dark IDM/techno
Metamatics - The Pod -- good dark but airy plaid-like IDM/breakbeat

pick a Plug...
Plug - Cut (97' remix) -- dark / light melody alternating, unique
Plug - A Subtile Blent -- possibly not, I played it before... but very dark

Plug - 6.07 -- dark & sorta industrial DnB

and I want a tshirt that says:
IDSPI
SPOPD

Picked up a ton of new and (mostly) used cd's this weekend. and I'm beginning a new set

probably the following NOT in order:
NIN - where is everybody? (halo 16 remix feat. teflon tel aviv)
Prodigy - firestarter (empirion mix)
Roni Size - watching windows (orig from new forms)
Roni Size - In Tune With the Sound (I'll probably use just a few looped samples for Abe's desire to hear beatboxing mixed into a set)
Free*Land - Big Wednesday
Red Snapper - Dnipro

other things I can/might pull from:
Plaid
Squarepusher
Equilibrium soundtrack (turns out you can't buy it, yay for suprnova)
Atari Teenage Riot?
808 state?
spring heel jack?
meat beat manifesto?
TLMOM or other mp3.com stuff which is now unavailable?

Yeah, there's a large dose of older stuff... I hate mixed compilations. Everywhere I go I look for unmixed tracks so that it's easier for me to mix them. The more I practice the more I realize all my mixed CD's hurt me by locking me into what the next track should be and layering junk on top of what would otherwise be a nice clean platform for mixing in another track.
